Model Generation and State Generation for Disjunctive Logic Programs

This paper investigates two xpoint approaches for minimal model reasoning with disjunctive logic programs P. The rst one, called model generation 4], is based on an operator T INT P deened on sets of Herbrand interpretations, whose least xpoint is logically equivalent to the set of minimal Herbrand models of the program. The second approach, called state generation 12], uses a xpoint operator T...

Control Generation for Logic Programs

A basic requirement of declarative programming is to free the programmer from the need to manually insert control annotations into the program. Here we study the execution of logic programs under coroutining computation rules. We define a new systematic approach to when-declarations; we introduce a class of simple, yet powerful, instantiation based computation rules which are particularly easy ...

Disjunctive Logic Programs versus Normal Logic Programs

This paper focuses on the expressive power of disjunctive and normal logic programs under the stable model semantics over finite, infinite, or arbitrary structures. A translation from disjunctive logic programs into normal logic programs is proposed and then proved to be sound over infinite structures. The equivalence of expressive power of two kinds of logic programs over arbitrary structures ...

Disjunctive Signed Logic Programs

In this work, we define signed disjunctive programs and investigate the existence of answer sets for this class of programs. Our main argument is based on an analogue to Tarski-fixed point theorem which we prove for multivalued mappings. This is an original approach compared to known techniques used to prove the existence of answer sets for disjunctive programs.

Disjunctive Logic Programs with Inheritance

The paper proposes a new knowledge representation language, called DLP, which extends disjunctive logic programming (with strong negation) by inheritance. The addition of inheritance enhances the knowledge modeling features of the language providing a natural representation of default reasoning with exceptions. A declarative model-theoretic semantics of DLP is provided, which is shown to genera...
